What ingredients do we use and why?

Cassie Kids make-up doesn’t contain talc, parabens, silicone or any other unnecessary or toxic ingredients. So what does it contain?

Our quality products are made using a combination of the following:

Beeswax – this slightly thickens the products and gives some good stability. It also gives the lips a protective barrier against the elements

Calcium Carbonate – a naturally occurring form of calcium that is used as a mattifying ingredient

Candelilla Wax – we use this as a substitute for beeswax for vegan options of our products

Cetearyl and Cetyl Alcohol – these ingredients are also used as thickeners and give a beautiful, silky finish. They are derived from vegetable oils such as palm or coconut oil.

Cocoa Butter – this helps thicken some recipes. It is fat extracted from cocoa beans

Cold Pressed Lavender Essential Oil – a few drops provides a lovely fragrance to some of the products, but is only used in those that are not for use on or around eyes

Distilled Water – this is water that has gone through the process of distillation to remove impurities.

Geogard 221 Preservative – this is used for bacterial/fungal control in our products that use distilled water as one of the ingredients.

Iron Oxides – naturally occurring inorganic oxide used to give color to mineral makeup

Isopropyl Myristate – this is an ester of isopropyl alcohol  and myristic acid (a fatty acid that naturally occurs in coconut and palm oils). It is a very lightweight emollient and can be used like a carrier oil in many applications.

Mica – a naturally occurring mineral as well as natural-mimic synthetic mineral used to add colour, shimmer and sparkle

Natural Fractionated Coconut Oil – another ingredient that is part of our binder recipe for our eye shadows

Natural Jojoba Oil – a carrier oil that closely resembles our own skin’s sebum and rich in Vitamin E

Natural Kaolin Clay – naturally occurring inorganic mineral used to add colour

Organic Arrowroot Powder – this organic ingredient forms the base of several of our products

Organic Cold Pressed Castor Oil – this is one of the base oils and it provides a beautiful silky sheen

Organic Unrefined Shea Butter – helps to retain moisture in the skin and leaves the skin feeling supple and smooth

Organic Virgin Coconut Oil – this is another base oil which adds the glossy effect to some of the products

Soy Lecithin (Non GMO) – this ingredient provides a lovely gloss and thickener to some products

Stearic Acid – this is a  fatty acid we use as a thickener and hardener. It occurs naturally in butters like cocoa and shea.

Sweet Almont Oil – this is one of our bases for many of our products and is derived from almond nuts

Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide – are both naturally occurring inorganic oxides used as mineral pigments. They reflect light, provide excellent coverage, and absorb UV-A and UV-B radiation

Vegetable Glycerin – this is one of our binder ingredients and is used instead of using alcohol or silicone
