Find out more about the mica we use

As Cassie Kids was founded, we were on a mission to ensure that what we give is not only safe and non-toxic but that no cruelty was part of the process.

Guaranteed safe and gentle

The micas we use are both natural as well as natural-mimic synthetic mica.

We have done a lot of research regarding the use of mica in cosmetics, especially regarding the safety aspect for little bodies. The synthetic mica that we use is natural-mimic mica, free from any heavy-metals and is coloured with oxide pigments. These synthetic micas are both ethical and safe. Our synthetic micas are non toxic, and are irritant free and gentle on skin.

We use a very small amount of mica in our products as not much mica is needed to create colour – a little goes a very long way when it comes to mica.

Ethical and cruelty free in every way

In our research we also identified a massive industry of natural mica that uses child labour. The mica from our supplier that is natural has provided confirmation that no child labour is used in the extraction of it.

Neither our synthetic nor natural mica is tested on animals in any way.

We have also ensured that any plant products are also ethically sourced (like palm oil) and that they are non-GMO.

We exceed international standards

We have also seen what our competitors use and that has influenced some of our decisions. As there aren’t many producers of mineral, non-toxic makeup for children in South Africa we went abroad and have compared our products and ingredients against several US and UK based companies that make cosmetics for children.
