A broad spectrum preservative wards off microbial growth, and microbes require water to live—no water, no microbes! Kept reasonably cool and dry, our products can last for over a year. Most of our Cassie Kids products don’t contain any water and therefore don’t require a broad-spectrum preservative. If you notice a smell like old nuts or crayons, that’s a sign that the oils have begun to oxidize.

We use distilled water in our Star Sparkle Spray and therefore we need to include a broad-spectrum preservative. 

The preservatives we use are either Liquid Germall Plus or Geogard 221.

Geogard 221 is a unique preservative suitable for natural and organic formulations, and are paraben free. Geogard 221 is accepted by Ecocert for use in natural and organic certified cosmetics and is Soil Association approved. Soil Association organic certification ensures the integrity of the products in relation to the environmental impact of their farming and the long-term sustainability of the crops. No chemical pesticides or fertilizers are permitted in the growing of the crop.
